The rules for using Rare Find — please read before joining.
The short version: Be respectful, be honest about your finds, follow Australian fossicking laws, and don't post anything harmful or misleading. The rock identification tool is for guidance only — always get a professional assessment for high-value specimens. Marketplace trades are between members; we take a 3% commission and facilitate but are not a party to the transaction.
By creating an account or using the Rare Find platform (rarefindcommunity.com), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must not share your account with anyone else or allow others to access the platform using your credentials.
You agree to provide accurate information when registering. Impersonating another person or creating a false identity is prohibited.
Rare Find is a community built on shared passion. We expect all members to treat each other with respect. The following are not permitted:
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these rules and to suspend or permanently ban accounts of members who breach them.
Important: Fossicking regulations vary by state, territory, and land type across Australia and internationally. It is your sole responsibility to obtain any required permits, respect land access restrictions, and comply with all applicable laws before fossicking. Rare Find provides legal information as a guide only — it is not legal advice.

The AI-powered rock identification feature is provided for educational and recreational purposes only. Identifications are not guaranteed to be accurate and should not be relied upon for:
For high-value specimens, always seek assessment from a certified gemologist or geologist. Rare Find accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI identification results.
By uploading a photo for identification, you confirm you have the right to upload that image and grant Rare Find a limited licence to process it through our AI identification service.
The Rare Find marketplace facilitates trades between members. Rare Find is not a party to any transaction and does not hold funds on behalf of buyers or sellers.
A commission of 3% of the sale price is charged to the seller on each completed transaction. This fee covers platform costs and is non-refundable once a transaction is marked complete.
You retain ownership of content you post on Rare Find (photos, forum posts, find logs, listings). By posting content, you grant Rare Find a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and distribute that content on the platform.
You confirm that any content you post does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party and does not contain personal information about others without their consent.
We may remove any content that violates these terms without notice.
Rare Find displays advertising from third-party suppliers, retailers, and service providers relevant to the fossicking and collecting community. Advertisements are clearly labelled as "Sponsored" or "Community Partner."
Rare Find does not endorse any advertiser or their products. We are not responsible for the accuracy of advertiser claims or the quality of advertised goods and services.
Your collecting profile data is used to determine which advertisements are shown to you. See our Privacy Policy for full details. You may opt out of interest-based advertising at any time via your account settings.
The Rare Find name, logo, design, and platform software are the intellectual property of Rare Find Community Pty Ltd. You may not reproduce, copy, or use them without written permission.
The rock and mineral identification database, value scale, and AI identification system are proprietary to Rare Find. You may not scrape, copy, or reproduce them.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Rare Find is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, personal injury, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Australian consumer law.
You may close your account at any time by contacting privacy@rarefindcommunity.com. We will delete your personal data within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Rare Find after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
